Cihan Ötün had his first musical success in 2005 with a remix of Technotronics "Pump up the jam" using the pseudonym Kurd Maverick. The remix appeared on the British record label Ministry of Sound. The first single "The Rub (I Never Rock)" was published in 2006 by Kontor Records. The vocals for the single come from Kurd Maverick himself. His greatest success he had together with Eddie Thoneick with a House version of the 1980s number one hit Love Sensation of Loleatta Holloway. The new version reached position 39 in the UK Singles Chart. A third single for Kontor records was released in 2007 with "Let's work". Maverick is also a successful remix producer including remixes for Robbie Williams, Bob Sinclar, Basement Jaxx, Rosenstolz, Erick Morillo, Boy George and the Pet Shop Boys.
